help! - removing/delete unused partitioned space on mac

Hi all,

I need help removing the unused partitioned space on my Mac, I hardly ever use VMware...I partitioned it for 60 GB originally (out of 250 GB). I was running VMware 5.0.4 on my Mac 10.8.5….

I deleted the app and all the files like it says here:

But I've only managed to remove 10 GB after emptying my trash bin…I've done plenty of research and can't find a resolution for this problem. I know it has to be a frequently asked question…

(IF in the case I would have to reinstall this program to try different options within VMware….if I reinstall, would this create another partition?)

I'm worried about directions to use Boot Camp Assistance or Disk Utility to remove unused space…it does not seem to be the proper way to solve this problem.
